Amazing Benefits of Kirtan Kriya Meditation

December 4, 2014

I was guided to the Kirtan Kriya Meditation by a Kundalini Yoga teacher and I took it on as my 40 day sadhana. However, I failed many times to complete the full 40 days. My resistance would kick, my mind would wonder, I could not sit still and I even tried to convince myself that it wasn’t for me.

However, each time I sat down to meditate regardless of how good or bad the meditation went, I felt a subtle shift within me. I began feeling differently towards myself. The heaviness of my constant low moods felt lighter and I felt internally stronger. So I just made a commitment to myself that I would take it one day at a time. I told myself all that matters is that I do it today. I’ll figure it out tomorrow if I want to continue. This created less resistance towards completing my sadhana and I began to look forward to doing it the next day. I talk about my 40 day Kirtan Kriya experience in the video below:

Since I posted that video, I have done the meditation twice and I am starting it up again for another 40 days today, but this time around I am doing the 31 minute version. The reason I keep coming back to this meditation is because it literally has helped me eliminate subconscious garbage, heal my past and feel more connected to the Divine. The shifts are subtle at first, but overtime I have realized how much this meditation has really helped me to heal.

This meditation is great for:

+ Healing a broken heart (helped me to move on from a past relationship that ended)

+ Reduce stress and depression (I have more mental clarity)

+ Break addictions and negative thoughts (I was addicted to negative thoughts and now I understand when I am swirling down into negative thoughts/behavior)

+ Balances the hormones (I had crazy adult acne, which began to clear up a few weeks after I ended my 40 day practice)

+ Helps you focus and center yourself (I feel inner strength and more sure of who I am)

+ Helps cleanse your subconscious mind (I started to become aware of self-sabotage and my old limiting beliefs that kept me stuck)

I sense a lot of changes happening in my life, so it will help me to stay committed to my spiritual practice and ground my energy. Also, I want to continue to cleanse my subconscious and let go resistance that is keeping me in littleness. As per request from a viewer, I created an 11 minute guided meditation of the Kirtan Kriya. You can follow along and meditate with me using the video below.

The 11 minute version – SA TA NA MA:

+ Tune in with Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo

2 minutes out loud (voice of the human)
2 minutes whisper (voice of the lover)
3 minutes silent (voice of the Divine)
2 minutes whisper (voice of the lover)
2 minutes out loud (voice of the human)

1 minute sitting in silence

+ End with long SAT NAM

Yogi Bhajan said that if you had to chose just one meditation, do this one. Also, if you are looking to begin a mediation practice, I suggest starting with this one. I began my meditation practice with the Kirtan Kriya and then moved onto silent meditating. Give it a go for yourself and see how it works for you!

Hi! I came across your Kirtin Kriya guided meditation after learning it from a kundalini instructor. I also watched the video explaining your overall experience. I’m happy to see that you’re going for another 40 days. By now you’ve probably finished. But how do you feel after round two?

I’ve probably done it 3 times by now. I am currently doing the 31 minute version for intended 120 days. This meditation practice has changed my inner landscape and my life, it the one meditation I recommend to everyone who is looking to really actualize who they are. Love to you! x

Nope when it most comfortable time for you – without distractions 🙂

Nope it doesn’t. Just a time where you are uninterrupted.

    Hi!
Thank you so much for this video. You’re such an inspiration! I’ve tried to implement a regular meditation practice several times but couldn’t stick with it, either. Two weeks ago I was diagnosed with rosacea and I know I have to do something for myself to control my disease so it won’t get worse. I will try 40 days of Kirtan Kriya. Do you have any advice for a helpful yoga kriya as well? I was thinking about doing basic spinal energy series.
    Thank you so much ;-)!

Yes spinal energy series are great! I would suggest the breathe of fire for 2 minutes or longer. Sat Nam.
