Coronavirus: The Fear Virus

Planting fear into our minds causes us to go into panic and hysteria because we can no longer be certain and live our lives as we know it.

On a global scale, a lot is happening right now in our world with the Coronavirus outbreak. The energy of the world is very tense right now. Walking outside, I can immediately feel into the collective chaos, panic and fear that is rampant. In my lifetime this is the first time I have ever experienced anything like this, and it’s a time of great inquiry and healing.

When we are faced with the unknown, when we are being told that our lives are at threat and life as we knew it is disrupted; naturally fear will ensue. This will leave us confused, panicked, feeling uncertain, overwhelmed with many questions on our mind.

We will desperately try to find some type of solution for the fear we feel as we navigate these uncertain times. When we can’t, the fear escalates.

The reason I am calling Coronavirus the fear virus because that is exactly what it is doing to us. Planting fear into our minds causing us to go into panic and hysteria because we can no longer be certain and live our lives as we know it.

What Fear Does to Us

Fear wreaks more havoc than a virus could. Fear is like a virus planted into our mind causing us to think not clearly, practice discernment and be easily controlled. It takes away our ability to think for ourselves, be intentional and feel things thoroughly. When all we feel is fear, we see the world through the perspective of fear too. Things will look worse than they are and this will only fuel the fear more.

We have to accept this one fact: everything in the Universe is energy, and that means we too are energy. All energy has a vibration and frequency to it; therefore, we too have vibration and frequency. When we are in fear our energy is zapped and our vibration is significantly lowered. When this happens it is called stress. Stress is a response to fear, it’s the body’s way of coping with the excessive amount energy it takes to feed the fear. We feed the fear by constantly checking the news, looking for reasons to panic, looking for the worst, overthinking, talking about it excessively, living by the fear and becoming unconscious.

Fear makes us unconscious. It takes away our ability to be direct and intentional with what we think and feel.

With our constant attention on fear, we use up a lot of our energy in an un-constructive way leaving us feeling depleted, drained, exhausted and stressed. When the body is under stress it releases a hormone called cortisol. When cortisol levels are high this actually begins to hurt us, because now our immune system is being compromised. We become prime candidate for sickness to settle right in.

I know that every time I have gotten sick it was always correlated to what was going on for me emotionally and my stress levels. I am someone who never gets sick because I believe I won’t, and that belief has to be reflected in my outer experiences. Now, I do take precautions to practice good hygiene and keep myself aware and healthy, but I know that we don’t just get sick. We create sickness.

We invite sickness in through what we believe, a chronic thought pattern, and how we feel, which compromises our immunity making us an ideal candidate for organisms like viruses to wreck havoc.

That is why it is so essential during this time to be kinder to ourselves and our body. We practice good hygiene for our bodies, but also with our mental and emotional health too. Keeping fear in check, all begins with our mind. We have to tell it to ‘shut up’ so we can see it for what it is.

Fear is not a fact, fear is only a feeling.

Process to understand fear:

  1. Understand that fear is a perspective that is created by you in your mind. Its origins may seem external because we’re constantly living in reactionary mode to the world around us. We let circumstances, things, people, in this case a virus affect how we think and feel. We let things outside of us dictate how we are going to perceive something; instead of letting that choice be up to us. We are powerful beings who are addicted to feeling powerless because we don’t practice discernment and inquiry.

  2. Question the fear, don’t let it be a fact. Fear is not a fact. Fear is a feeling. All feelings have a climax and threshold. Learning how to understand our feelings helps them dissipate. In the Treasure Chest, I have a free audio class for you on how to navigate and understand your emotions, you can grab that here. I like to think of emotions as energy surges moving through the body, energy in motion. Once the mind catches a hold of an emotion by trying to make meaning of it through analysis and judgement, we are screwed. The mind will take something like an emotion and amplify it so it feels 10x worse. Then, we start to spin in circles, get super overwhelmed and start to think in terms of black and white. This is why inquiry is so important, we have to question our emotions for the deeper messages they have for us. Remember emotions are only information, not facts. One way to do this is ask yourself in a journal: I feel fear because…? After you write down your answer, ask yourself this question: I feel this way because…? And keep asking yourself this question until you get to the bottom. What you are doing with this exercise is looking for the perspective or belief that is anchoring the emotion of fear.

  3. All negative emotions, including fear, are anchored by a perspective or belief we believe to be true. By doing the above exercise you are allowing your mind to do what it loves to do, problem-solve by becoming aware of the perspective or belief you believe to be true that is causing you to feel fear. Once you’re aware of the perspective or belief then, reframe it. This is your solution, this is the golden key. Now you know why you are feeling fear and also what the solution is to stop feeling the fear and start feeling better.

  4. Now it’s your job to keep reminding yourself of the new perspective or belief you want to believe in, instead of the fear. Key thing here is to remind. Your mind will forget because our mind is not trained very well. Our mind is like a monkey on the loose that keeps getting us into trouble. This means getting us stuck in negative thought patterns and becoming rigid in our thinking. When we take the time to train our mind by being deliberate with our thinking, the loose monkey starts to become tamed and obedient to us. I have a class I taught on how to think to further explore and learn about this, check it out.

  5. Lastly, stop engaging in activities that keep the monkey on the loose and out of control like checking the news. It’s good to be informed, but it is not productive or healthy to over consume to the point that it stresses us out and makes the fear out of control. Remember an untrained mind’s best friend is fear. Together they can wreak so much havoc that you completely “become” what you fear.

Process to witness and bring awareness to fear:

  1. In order to witness fear we have to get into our body. With so many of us living in our heads, we aren’t really sure what it feels like to be in our body. The best practice to get into your body is meditation, specifically using your awareness. Move your awareness from your head to your heart. Start to breathe deeply as your awareness rests in your heart. Now you are in your body.

  2. Deep breathing calms the mind down. The longer the breathe the longer the brain wavelengths; whereas; the shorter the breathe the shorter the brainwaves. We can literally feel the affects of the short brainwaves as overthinking, overwhelm, an out of control feeling and you bet when you’re in this state, your breathing is very shallow and short. Being in your body allows you to gain control over your mind with the use of your breathe. Deeply breathing in for 5, holding for 3, and breathing out for 5. I have a class on the science of meditation that teaches in detail about meditation and the effect on the mind, you can check that out here.

  3. Now that you are in a calm state, witness the fears presence. Remember the fear is a perspective in your head, but a feeling in your body. The way to witness the fear is to separate from “it being you”. Fear is not who you are, it is just currently in your space. The way I like to make this separation is by saying out loud: “This is fear present in my space right now” or “This is fear.” I am breathing deeply as I am saying this a few times over and over again. Creating this separation between you and fear is essential to taking your power back and understanding it is just an emotion.

  4. This next step is eye-opening. When we see emotions as information, we can can begin to inquire what message they have for us. What are they trying to tell us? Now, ask your fear: what are you really trying to tell me? If fear could talk to me what would it say? Do this in your journal, have the conversation with fear and I guarantee you will gain an awareness that you didn’t have before.

  5. Our unsettling emotions are like children who don’t know any better and are craving our attention. Once we give them our attention by acknowledging them and listening to them, they no longer bother us. This is exactly what we are doing with fear, we are hearing it out and then providing it with the comfort that it wants, just like a child. Each of our children: fear, guilt, shame come bearing stories and things they want to tell us, but we shun them, ignore them or completely become them. When we see them for what they are, emotions with information, we can integrate them and allow ourselves to heal so they no longer create distress and disruption within. We do this by giving them our loving presence as we deeply listen and heal these wounds with forgiveness and love.

  6. It becomes your job to comfort the fear child when it tells you all of its woes and tales. When you start to soothe and not agree with it, you will be not be affected by it as you choose to respond rather react.

FORCED TIME FOR REFLECTION

Right now is a great time to go within, with the forced retreat that has been granted to us. See it as a blessing, because you can finally do all the things you have wanted to do, but never had the time for. We as humans have a weird relationship with freedom. It’s the thing we all want deep down, but when someone else isn’t telling us what to do and how to do, we cannot think for ourselves and guide ourselves. This shows how controllable we are and how much we are actually afraid to be true to ourselves and think for ourselves. Explore your relationship with freedom, let it help you be more sovereign and true to yourself. It’s a great way to follow your truth, and do all the things you love. This forced retreat is a perfect opportunity to go within, discover more about yourself and spend quality time taking good care of you. I have a workbook called Dear Beloved guiding you through building a better relationship with yourself. You can find that here.

Lastly, I see this time as a great exposure, sort of a mass spiritual awakening happening all over the planet. Earth is changing as we are going through ascension, moving from third dimensional reality to fifth dimensional reality. The veil is becoming thinner. We are gaining consciousness. We are beginning to realize the things that are not working, and the things we as a collective family need to change. We are realizing that we are not separate after all. What happens to someone in China or Italy affects all of us, not just some of us. We are actually all in this together and we have to start behaving like it. Through all of this, we are beginning to realize how much of our systems and structures do not support an integrated and holistic way of life. Where mind, body and spirit are aligned. Where emotions are understood for what they really are, information. Where our mind is not the decision-making authority rather a tool and architect to build the visions we have received from our soul and spirit. Where our shared humanity is equal no matter where you live on the planet. Where we understand what happens to one of us, happens to all of us. Where we actually understand we are interconnected with one another and our planet. It’s a time of 2020 vision, the year we start to see things clearly.
